The Indre à Vélo – a leafy cycle path

If you liked the Loire à Vélo, you are bound to like its ‘little sister’, the Indre à Vélo! This route is a bit more secretive, leading you through the picturesque countryside between Berry and Touraine.

The Indre à Vélo – an alternative route

For a new cycling holiday in Touraine in the Loire Valley, another world is possible… or another route at any rate! From Amboise, break off through the great forest towards the majestic Château de Chenonceau. 30 kilometres further south, you come to the village garden of Chédigny, and to the gates of the Royal City of Loches, through which the River Indre flows, of course!

Alongside the river, Montbazon Fortress, the Domaine de Candé and the Balzac Museum are fantastic places to stop and visit before reaching Azay-le-Rideau and then getting back onto the Loire by bike.

The banks of the River Indre or nothing!

Recently, our neighbours in Berry also created a cycle touring pathway on the banks of the River Indre, north of the Brenne lakes. So you can start your journey from Châteauroux, and make your way to Buzançais and Chatillon-sur-Indre, before finally arriving at Loches.

The added bonus of the route is that it’s quiet, with fewer people both on the trail and at the visitor attractions. So you really will be getting away from it all!
