Calling all golfers – complete beginners or experienced players! Come as you are!
The sport of golf has something in common with the world of wine: the uninitiated sometimes find it difficult to take that first step – whether that is out onto the greens or into a wine cellar. But, of course, everyone has to start somewhere: the top golfers and knowledgeable oenophiles all had to begin… at the beginning. With 6 cottages and even a vineyard barn converted to provide more accommodation, Fleuray Amboise golf club and cottages is the perfect place to have a go.
Golf: a weekend surrounded by greenery!
You can, of course, simply rent one of the cosy cottages (for 2 or 4 people) and enjoy a delightful view. But it would be a shame not to give it a go, wouldn’t it? Before heading out to play the 9 holes, you could take some of the lessons (for individual or groups) which are available at the club, and try your hand on the putting green, a 250 m² practice range. Clubs and buckets of balls can be hired from the clubhouse.
If you’re already an experienced golfer, you’ll see that every hole has a teeing off point and a synthetic green. So you can play all year round. Completely redesigned in 2020, Fleuray Amboise is an undulating course (par 32) with natural hazards. You’ll need to choose your club carefully on the 8th hole to get over the water hazard!
Around Fleury Amboise golf club
After an afternoon out in the fresh air and with a few holes behind you, you’ll certainly appreciate a meal in one of the wonderful local restaurants: there’s Le Fleuray, right next-door, and also L’Aubinière, the Auberge de la Brenne, or the Château de Pray (which has one star in the famous Michelin Red Guide).
The following day, you can enjoy a stroll around Amboise, including a visit to one of its famous châteaux. But you’ll have plenty of other options to choose from too:
- A trip to the Caves Ambacia wine cellars,
- A 2CV rally, with 2CV Légende Organisation,
- Hire a bike and cycle to the Château de Chenonceau on cycle route 47,
- A safari-train in Beaumarchais Safari Park,
- The spa at the Domaine des Thomeaux,
- A visit to the Aquarium de Touraine,
- The gardens of the Château de Valmer and the estate’s wines,
- Canoeing on the Loire,
- Or even… a hot air balloon ride!
