Great places to take it easy
Famous for its châteaux-hotels, celebrated for its spa holidays and chosen for its large-capacity gîtes, Touraine is continually seeing its range of accommodation renewed with high-quality services. So, five new hotels have opened for business recently for the great enjoyment of their first customers.
Hôtel de la Cité Royale – Loches
When seen from abroad, the charm of France is based among other things on its elegant architecture, enhancing the town centres. As well as the Royal City, the centre of Loches also benefits from the prestige of the former Law Court. After substantial renovation work, the Law Court is now a 4-star Best Western Plus hotel, preserving and even improving the building’s architectural quality. Inside, 45 rooms now promise a well-earned rest with a view over the spires of Saint Ours collegiate church. And the restaurant and spa are not bad either!
The new Hilton hotels – Tours
A few years after the Olivier Debré Centre for Contemporary Creation was opened, the top of the main road is continuing its transformation with two new hotels built (Hampton by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn), facing the River Loire.
The decoration makes for a warm atmosphere, and the location is strategic: the timber-framed houses in the old town of Tours are close by, as is a wide range of shops.
And less than 5 minutes away by tram, you will be at the station or the Congress Centre, which is practical if you are attending a major seminar!
Les Trésorières – Tours
Crowned with 5 stars, the Les Trésorières hotel is also in a district of Tours that should be seeing some big developments: as the epicentre of Touraine gastronomy, Les Halles is soon due to undergo an ambitious renovation project.
The hotel has anticipated the movement and is now welcoming its first guests in 20 rooms designed for comfort and with a wellness area opened in the basement. Cocooning guaranteed!
The Ferdinand Hôtel Tours
Again in the town centre of the capital of Touraine, the Ferdinand Hôtel Tours aims to be “cosy, chic and welcoming”. And the aim is definitely achieved in this 3-star hotel, which also has another card to play, with the presence of black and white “Ariscaud & Sons” photos, a somewhat vintage reference to the 20th century, so near and yet so far away.
The breakfast area can be turned into a co-working space, as well as a bar/snack room for a ham or cheese platter. A real sign of the times!
Le Manoir Les Minimes – Amboise
Unlike the hotels listed above, Le Manoir Les Minimes has existed for many years now! If we have included it in this list, it is because of the big metamorphosis undertaken in recent months, leading to the award of its 5th star. Plenty of reasons to enjoy a great stay, with the visit to the three great châteaux in Amboise and to the Caves Ambacia.
