A stay at the heart of nature
For centuries, our British neighbours have adored cottages in the middle of the woods or in the countryside. They go there to find peace and quiet in a setting that is totally different from their daily lives. In Touraine, there are two places with the same kind of features.
New: Loire Valley Lodges!
Loire Valley Lodges has been open for just a few weeks. This is a hotel unlike any other. Because instead of staying in traditional rooms, guests can choose between 18 lodges, hidden deep in the forest.
Alongside the tasteful decoration, the lodges boast a clear view, with large bay windows looking out on the trees and the nature all around. You just need to soak up the forest atmosphere, for instance from the spa on the terrace. To complete the magical ambience, each lodge features a work by an artist. And you will come across other sculptures and artistic installations all over the 300-hectare private forest in Esvres-sur-Indre, near Tours.
In the centre there is a public area with a bar, a restaurant (highlighting organic food and short food supply chains, with room service available) and a wonderful swimming pool. A wide range of activities are on offer, including dynamic massages, forest bathing and bike rentals.
La Trigalière: gites, weddings, seminars
There is no lack of space, either, if you choose to stay on the La Trigalière estate in Ambillou, near the Château de Champchevrier. The estate covers over 1000 hectares (bearing in mind that a football pitch is… 0.7 hectares!).
In the midst of the ponds, woods and clearings, there are ten or so gîtes designed to meet different needs. Four of them are ideal for a family of 4 (La Dreuserie, La Maison des Enfants, La Maison d’Annie…), three others are for groups of 8 to 10 people. Six group gîtes have a capacity for between 12 and 18 guests. They all feature an attractive “rural chic” decoration. The perfect basecamp for visiting the Loire châteaux or enjoying the region’s hiking trails.
The facilities are adapted both to family stays and to large-scale events, including weddings or seminars. For almost 200 years, the château reception rooms have been hosting events!
