“Le Séchoir”, “La Beausserie”, “La Maison verte”, “Le Potager”… the Domaine de la Trigalière is not just one, but ten separate houses (sleeping 4 to 18 people) available for rental, nestling in the heart of a vast area of woodland covering 1,200 hectares, where stags, does, fallow deer and foxes roam free. The Pic Epeiche Eco Gite, in Lerné
A green stop-over in Rabelais country as the Pic Epeiche gite (which sleeps 24 people) champions environmentally-friendly tourism. Eco-friendly materials have been used and energy management and water consumption are optimised. What’s more, Pic Epeiche (the first Eco gite in the Centre region of France) has been awarded the ‘Nature and Heritage Accommodation’ label by the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Nature Park.
The Gîte du Poitevin, in Draché
On the Santiago de Compostela Route, the Logis du Poitevin can accommodate around twenty people in total. Situated in the Touraine countryside, the gîte is able to welcome guests travelling on horseback. The animals can stay in the meadow or in stalls, in the company of Neige and Nougatine des Granges, the owners’ two horses.

A perfect spot to stop for a break if you’re touring, especially by bike: the Ethic Etapes International Centre has actually been awarded the ‘Accueil Vélo’ bike-friendly label! Situated on the Ile d’Or along the Loire opposite the Royal Château of Amboise, the premises have been recently renovated and offer 72 beds distributed among 25 rooms at affordable prices for most people.
Seuilly Abbey
Staying with Rabelais, this accommodation is situated within the walls of the historic Seuilly Abbey! Able to sleep a total of 64 people, there are various options available, including a small gite for 4 people, and if you arrive in force, beds in dormitories at low prices. Seuilly Abbey isn’t far from the pretty medieval town of Chinon in the Loire Valley and situated in the heart of the AOC vines of the same name!
The old Post House at Nouans-les-Fontaines
How about this for an unusual place to stay! Able to sleep a whole clan of up to 27 people, this gîte is situated in the former 19th century post house of the small village of Nouans-les-Fontaines. There is a main host house, as well as two outbuildings and a garden. Still not sure? Well, the famous Beauval Zoo and its pandas are 15 minutes away – that should decide it!
The Chartreuse du Liget, in Chemillé-sur-Indrois
Soak up the heritage in this magnificent building erected in the 12th century by Henry II Plantagenet, which provides accommodation for 16 people. Chartreuse du Liget stands in a landscape of meadows and woodland halfway between the medieval town of Loches and Montrésor, listed as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France”.
