This art consists of training fruit trees by trellising them on walls (espaliers stricto sensu), or on free-standing structures in a garden (contre-espaliers), or in small, voluminous forms. This art allows the best possible fruit to be produced within easy reach, and also enables gardeners to better look after the health of their trees. To mark the occasion, Alix de Saint Venant - owner of Château de Valmer and a landscape gardener - offers technical guided tours on the theme of pruning and caring for fruit trees as part of the World Days of the Art of Espalier. All weekend long: Self-guided or audioguided tours of the 5-hectare gardens, which have been awarded the "Remarkable Garden" label, the troglodytic chapel and the 60-hectare historic park.
