Truffle growing has always existed in Touraine, particularly in the Richelais basin.
Thanks to the quality of its soils and climate, Indre & Loire is one of France's leading producers of Tuber Melanosporum truffles.
The revival of truffle-growing in our region began in the mid-70s around Marigny-Marmande. Since then, the area under truffle cultivation has grown to around 400 hectares.
With almost a ton produced every year, Touraine truffles are sold on many retail markets.
The Association des Trufficulteurs de Touraine, which now has 120 members, aims to promote truffle growing through planting, and to encourage the training of truffle growers.
